David leads BirdBrain from the front line, utilising his deep passion of business to address how BirdBrain can meet the needs of clients. David has grown BirdBrain from the ground up, using his background in accounting to set the foundations for our business model. While he spends his time outside of work shredding on guitar and keeping fit, David always sets aside at least 30 minutes to expand his knowledge in one of BirdBrain’s services every day. David’s profound passion for BirdBrain’s work is most satisfied hearing the impact our work has had on a client’s business.
Juliet has over 25 years’ experience in art direction and branding strategy. As our creative director, Juliet leads our designers and treats every project as if it were her own business. Juliet combines strategic focus with creative vision to transform client’s digital communications and ensure their brand is leading the way and setting a new benchmark in their industry. To step away from work, she keeps her feet on the ground with yoga, walking, and connecting with friends.
Armed with a holistic approach to creating brand experiences, Jess takes inspiration from her loves of photography, fashion and design to create unique brands and campaigns. With extensive experience working with family businesses, start-ups and small companies, Jess loves working directly with passionate business owners towards their goals. Jess believes that any valuable solution doesn’t fit the mould and instead challenges what everyone else is doing. Escaping both work and land, Jess often takes off boating to her happy place at Parker Point.
Every team needs a Michelle Jones. Michelle runs a tight ship at BirdBrain, not only keeping work processes flowing smoothly across BirdBrain departments but keeping team spirits high with social initiatives and delicious baking. Michelle has grown her studio management talents through a wealth of industry and agency experience. She is most proud of the moments when we’ve achieved great client results through team collaboration. In her free time, Michelle gets creatives by taking photography day trips and doing her own DIY design projects.
Resident Lead Designer and Harley-riding BirdBrain badass, Katja creates brand experiences and transformations across the digital landscape. Her immense talent is fuelled by an unmatched thirst for knowledge and learning, helping Katja design digital touchpoints for brands that engage and interact with their users. With multidisciplinary expertise gained from experience across a range of industries and national brands, Katja sure knows how to bring a brand to life.
Karen is not afraid to share her nerdy love of all things numbers and bookkeeping. This enjoyment of order extends to gardening as well with a keen interest in formal gardens. You’ll find every one of Karen’s hedges in clean balanced lines and expertly tended to, just like our accounts! Her backyard is also home to 2 guinea pigs, 7 Japanese Quails, 2 cats and a dog, we hear even a goat is on the cards…

Mark matches design and development with his expertise in crafting both intelligent user interfaces and user experiences. Mark builds website on the foundation that they should be clean, simple and logical, utilising the power of React framework to create a polished end result. With experience over a wide range of clients, each with their own focus, Mark enjoys adapting to each new challenge and partnering with a business to find a simple solution for them that just works.
A pure creative through and through, John applies traditional and hands-on artistic techniques and translates them into flexible, adaptive digital designs. With a personal style of web design, John enjoys giving a face to a client’s dream brand through his excellent eye for typography, colour, pattern and theming. John’s work shows that brilliant ideas can be brought to life in the digital world using both modern and old school techniques. Our favourite piece of work? Kate rules a world where communication is key, guiding large-scale integrated projects which involve both digital and branding. Embodying the values of openness, patience and adaptability, Kate develops relationships that are built on trust which lead to effective projects and solutions, overcoming any obstacles along the way. Kate has finetuned these skills with a plethora of experience, working with high profile local, national and international clients from across the globe with differing time zones, backgrounds and cultures. Outside of this fast paced world, Kate can be found changing speed with bush walks and long runs (likely to still be face paced) or enjoying wine by a fire in winter, and soaking up the sun in summer.
Digital Marketing Specialist
Always ahead of the game, Ryan enjoys seeing clients achieve real results and return on investment in the long game of SEO. Ryan keeps projects streamlined with his management chops and always digs deeper to find alternative solutions to business problems. First class communication is in extra bold on Ryan’s resume, along with his experience directing digital marketing to a range of types of consumers. Catch Ryan on the phone and he could talk for hours about digital strategy, or how he’s putting up numbers in his weeknight basketball leagues.
Nick mixes both his business and design skillsets to deliver great UX and UI products that meet both user and business needs. Taking great enjoyment from tackling a client’s challenges, technology changes and user evolution, Nick develops solutions that cut through and achieve business goals. Nick looks forward to launching a mobile app of his own one day, but for now is sticking to purveying cryptocurrencies by the pool.
Integrated Marketing Specialist
Susan has worked on some of the biggest brands in Australia and campaigns some of us BirdBrainers can only dream of, delivering custom media solutions to brands in order to complement their offline activity. Using her wide range of experience across brands big and small, she is able to focus on creating tailored strategies that achieve efficient outcomes. Susan loves making a real impact on a client’s business and seeing the results of Birdbrain’s contributions of strategic thinking, great execution, accurate implementation and utilising insights of client’s data.
Ryan’s high attention to detail and passion for technical testing stems from an early scientific background in exercise physiology. His analytical approach to technical SEO doesn’t get left at the office either you’ll find Ryan rebuilding a classic 1970 Ford Capri in his garage on the weekends. Ryan has honed his experience across a 14-year international marketing career and over a wide range of industries, becoming an expert in site authority building and penalty recovery. He remains inquisitive as ever, pursuing wisdom in ever changing landscape of search engine optimisation.

Jess uses the power of perspective to achieve her client’s goals, looking at a business’s mission and reason for being and the business problems that they are facing. By focussing on long term results as a constant moving target, Jess is able to constantly raise the bar with her work. Jess has grown her SEO, PPC and website expertise over the years casting back to when she was just an intern at BirdBrain! On the weekends, Jess partners up with the most beautiful dog in the world: Silas and takes off to the beach or to explore Perth.
Sam relishes the challenges of the ever-changing maze that is Google and finding the right path for clients to achieve their SEO goals. Sam has developed his skillset through a mix of self-taught SEO principles, WordPress, coding and studying under chief BirdBrain SEO master Ryan Price. Sam takes the most pride in projects that get taken from the SEO graveyard to the sacred lands of the front page with the use of his skills in penalty revision, SEO auditing and web magic. When he’s not doing battle with Google, Sam practices Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and trains in other combat sports.
Ammal sees the world two steps ahead, staying at the forefront of innovation and business leadership. Ammal encourages the combination of creative brands and the adoption of innovative technology solutions to keep smart businesses ahead of the pack in the digital age. With over 15 years’ experience of international sales and market development both agency and client side, Ammal bridges the gap between IT and marketing. Eric is our developer with a creative sense of direction. An expert in HTML, CSS and many other acronyms, Eric can also put on his design hat when it comes to creating beautiful websites. Enticed by the ever-changing nature of the web, Eric enjoys integrating new and existing technologies to create something that makes people’s lives easier. A love of creating something from the ground up sees Eric approach every project with passion and the desire to go above client’s expectations.
Steph has a colourful resume full of experience working with national brands, international publishers, technology start-ups and everything in between. Steph’s strong digital strategy know-how allows her to approach each campaign with a holistic view, to identify where paid channels can take advantage of opportunities in the online space. Steph can find any excuse for a barbecue with friends, and winds down during the week with cooking.
With a passion for pushing the boundaries, give Brandon creative freedom and you’ll find your vision turned into a reality. Working with a wide spectrum of B2C and B2B brands in the past, from an Australian sunglasses brand to ASX consultants, Brandon has honed the ability to create an instant impact with his imagery. He continues to explore the unknown outside of work, finding interesting eats around Perth and travelling to photograph unique landscapes.
Our resident copywriter has a real way with words and a knack for writing copy that stands out in a crowded newsfeed, website or search results page. A former journalist and marketer in financial, technology, property, media sectors, her experience goes far beyond just putting pen to paper. Cherie believes in the ability of copy to express identity, personality and impact business objectives across all digital channels. Outside of work Cherie turns her attention to visuals and performance, immersing herself into classic and current films, and dancing everything from salsa to ballet.
